AJ Allmendinger set for Daytona 500 run with Kaulig No. 16

AJ Allmendinger will be at the wheel of the Kaulig No.16 car at the Daytona 500 next year.

The experienced Allmendinger will be taking part in the Great American Race for the 11th time in his career, though he is yet to taste victory in one of motorsport’s most iconic events.

His current best result is third place, which he has achieved on two occasions – in 2009 and 2017 – with Richard Petty Motorsports and JTG Daugherty Motorsports respectively. In 2023, meanwhile, he finished in sixth place carrying the No.16.

Indeed, it’s a number that he has grown used to, with him previously named the full-time driver of the No. 16 Xfinity Series car for the team.

As for the rest of the 2024 Cup series campaign, the No. 16 car has been tipped to have several drivers despite some suggestions that Ty Dillon would get the nod. American website Sportsnaut, however, has reported that that will not be the case involving Dillon.
